With the ruling party hitting a hat-trick in Haryana, Holi and Diwali were celebrated together at the BJP’s state headquarters in Rohtak on Tuesday.

BJP leaders, workers and supporters started assembling at the party’s state head office as soon as the election results and trends indicated a comfortable majority in the Vidhan Sabha.

The party members burst crackers, offered sweets, applied gulal and danced on dhol beats to celebrate their third consecutive victory in the state.

“History has been created in Haryana, where no party had been able to form the government for three times in a row before this. We thank people of the state for showering their affection on the BJP,” Sanjay Bhatia, head of the party’s state election management committee, said.

Asked about the factors that led to the BJP’s victory, Bhatia said people from all sections of the society had approved functioning of the BJP and voted for it.

“People of the state saw that, while the Congress leaders were fighting amongst themselves for the chief minister’s chair. BJP leader Manohar

Lal Khattar voluntarily relinquished the post and handed it over to an ordinary worker of the party,” he added.

Phanindranath Sharma, the state general secretary (organisation) of the BJP, said the people of Haryana had reposed faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Regarding the exit poll results proving wrong, Sharma said it had happened on earlier occasions as well.

Former Rohtak mayor Manmohan Goel, BJP district president Ranbir Dhaka, local party leader Rajkumar Kapoor and several other leaders and workers of the party were present.
