Government school teachers yet to get LTC dues for 2020-23

Around one-fourth of government school teachers working in the district and some other parts of the state are yet to get their LTC dues for 2020-23. Though they were to get the LTC benefit by December last year, shortage of funds are coming in the way of the release of funds.

The other factors are the lack of budgetary provisions and clear directions from the authorities, it is reported. "The release, due on December 31, 2023, was not only extended by a year to December 31, 2024, citing technical reasons, the delay is now prolonged. Many teachers are yet to get the benefit," says Chatar Singh, treasurer, Haryana Primary Teachers Association.

He said the accounts wing of the Education Department had issued a letter to all offices concerned about three years ago, seeking details of LTC dues. Saying that the government must release it before it gets lapsed, he said a cap by the Finance Department of the government had deprived them of LTC benefit for the past about five years.

"The number of teachers affected by the delay are yet to be revealed officially, but it could be one-fourth of the total teachers working in various categories, including primary and guest faculty across the state," said Raghu Vats, a representative of the Haryana Guest Teachers Association.

Ajit Singh, District Education Officer (DEO), Faridabad, said the dues were expected to be released by the end of this year.

Palwal DEO Ashok Kumar said while a majority of teachers had availed of the benefit, the number of teachers in the district, who were yet to get it, would be very few.
