GMDA razes illegal restaurants, jhuggis during demolition drive
The Enforcement Wing of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has carried out an extensive demolition drive at Sakatpur and SPR.
The enforcement team on Monday inspected the Sakatpur area and highlighted illegal construction being carried out there. A demolition drive was successfully carried out for the removal of unauthorised constructions in controlled area, falling under the jurisdiction of the GMDA in Sakatpur village, Badshahpur tehsil, with the help of the police force under the jurisdiction of the Badshahpur police station. A boundary wall measuring approximately 60 m and columns were demolished during the drive.
Thereafter, the team also reached SPR, Golf Course Extension Road, opposite Suraj Public School and demolished many unauthorised ‘khokhas’, restaurants and ‘jhuggies’. Additionally, structures where the furniture market and services stations were built within green belt were also removed. Moreover, 15 khokhas, two service stations and 30 tin-shed shops were also demolished and nearly 2-km road and greenbelts were cleared.
Thereafter, the team immediately reached the Badshapur chowk and cleared the road till Sector 67 T-point on the Sohna road as the entire traffic was blocked on the stretch.
