Give cybercrime data on time: Police to banks
The district police have instructed the managers of all banks to provide entire bank-related data to the investigation officer on time in the case of cyber fraud so that prompt action could be taken in cybercrime cases. The instructions were issued by DSP (Headquarter) Ravinder Singh today while holding a meeting of bank managers regarding cybercrime. At the meeting, the bank managers also assured him of establishing cyber help desks in their premises so as to make customers aware of cybercrime and to provide required data to the police.
“In cybercrime cases, the police are trying to reduce the response time while working within the limits of golden hours. In this, the role of the police is as important as that of the bank employees, hence it is very important to work together by establishing better coordination between them so as to prevent cybercrime effectively,” said the DSP.
He instructed the banks to do e-KYC properly as per the RBI guidelines so that fake bank accounts could not be opened. All bank officials should ensure their compliance, he said. The DSP also asked the bank managers to make customers aware about cyber fraud cases besides giving them information about cyber helpline-1930. The managers were asked to get sign boards installed in the bank premises for cyber helpline.
