Gita Mahotsav in Sri Lanka from March 1
Kurukshetra, February 17
The three-day fifth edition of the International Gita Mahotsav (IGM) on the foreign soil will be organised in Sri Lanka from March 1 to 3.
A three-member team comprising the Chief Executive Officer of the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB), Honorary Secretary of the Board and the Chairman of the 48-Kos Tirtha Monitoring Committee will reach Sri Lanka on February 28 to oversee preparedness for the event.
Sri Lanka’s Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Minister Vidura Wickramanayaka had attended the event at the Brahma Sarovar with BJP national president JP Nadda and he had expressed willingness to host the next event.
KDB Honorary Secretary Upender Singhal said: “The event will be jointly organised by the KDB and the government of Sri Lanka. A copy of the Gita will be presented in the Parliament of Sri Lanka. It is a great achievement for us that the other countries are expressing desire to host the festival.” Earlier, the IGM was organised in Mauritius, London, Canada and Australia.
