Get solar mapping done in all villages: Vij

Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij has directed officials that solar mapping must be done in all villages of the state, giving priority to farmers. He said solar energy would help in providing cheap and sustainable energy in rural areas, along with environmental protection.

It would also reduce the problem of power cuts. For this, the minister asked the officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan and held a meeting with officers of the Electricity Department today.

Vij directed them to implement the system of surcharge waiver, taking outstanding amount in instalments to provide relief to consumers. To improve the power distribution system, he ordered the immediate upgrade of transformers and conductors in areas where it was required.

To prevent power theft, Vij said the use of armed cable should be prioritised. This would help in reducing departmental losses and curbing power theft.
