The vegetable market situated at the Dabua colony, one of the biggest mandis in the NCR, has become a dumping site. The area is flooded with heaps of garbage, making visitors a victim of the poor civic conditions. With dumping of rotten fruits and vegetables in open, the visitors find it difficult to even walk on the road. Though the market is controlled and supervised by a committee appointed by the state government, the situation has deteriorated in wake of corruption and negligence. —Devinder Singh Surjewala, Faridabad

Wires hanging haphazardly

RESIDENTS of Nehru Nagar are worried about haphazardly hanging wires from utility poles in their neighbourhood. These wires pose a significant threat to public safety, especially pedestrians. The situation is not just an eyesore, but it could also lead to serious injuries if someone gets caught in the wires. The authorities concerned should take note of the issue and remove the wires at the earliest to avoid any untoward incident. —Sachin, Nehru Nagar

Drivers of two-wheelers encroach service roads

Footpaths and service roads on NH-44, crossing from the 'Textile City', have been encroached upon by drivers of two-wheelers or other vehicles. Maximum institutes and banks, showrooms and other educational institutes are on NH-44 and hundreds of vehicles can be seen here. After the parking lot under the flyover has been allotted to a private contractor by the administration, the numbers of vehicles have risen on service roads and footpaths. The authorities should initiate a special drive to control the parking of vehicles here. —Jitender Kumar, panipat

Rush in markets as festivities begin

The election has ended and the festival season has started. Markets in the city are already congested but with the start of the festival season the rush in the markets has increased. The authorities, especially police officials, should initiate a special drive to control the traffic jams in the markets and deploy police personnel on main chowks to control the traffic. —Ashok Saluja, panipat
