Gadkari calls for diversification of agriculture towards energy and power
Union Minister of Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today said, earlier, farmers used to be called ‘ann daata’, but the BJP government had made them ‘urja daata’ too.
Amid the start of paddy harvesting season, he called upon farmers to not burn stubble.
“Haryana and Punjab are the grain stores of this country, and our farmers are very hard working. I observed paddy stubble being burnt today, and I request the farmers not burn paddy as there are technologies and plants to prepare bio-CNG and bio-LNG from paddy stubble. Earlier we used to call farmers ‘anna daata’, but our government has made farmers ‘urja daata’ too. Flex engine vehicles are coming and ethanol pumps are being opened in the country. This will increase the income of farmers,” he added.
He was addressing the gathering at an event held in support of BJP Thanesar candidate Subhash Sudha in Kurukshetra.
Gadkari said “The diversification of agriculture towards energy and power sector is the need of this country if we want to develop smart villages, and ensure welfare of farmers and labourers. We are working with the aim to eliminate pollution, develop villages and generate employment. Hydrogen is the future and, trust me, farmers will produce hydrogen.”
“All such things are happening because a right government with the right policies is at the Centre. The country is developing. We want to become the third-largest economy,” he added.
Attacking the Congress, he said “The Congress had given the slogan of ‘Garibi Hatao’, but only the poverty of Congressmen and their ‘disciples’ was eradicated.”
He also highlighted the various ongoing and upcoming projects in Haryana, and said the state was transforming at a rapid pace. He urged the public to vote for the BJP in the upcoming election.
