Frustrated auto market traders threaten to boycott elections over unfulfilled promises

The frustration among auto market traders and mechanics at Janata Bhawan Road two-wheeler market has reached a boiling point. Led by traders Prince Sharma, Inderjit Arora, Nitin, and Sukkha, they have collectively decided to boycott the upcoming Assembly elections due to years of unfulfilled promises from government officials and politicians.

Prince Sharma highlighted the plight of the market, which supports around 200 traders and mechanics and provides employment to approximately 500 people. He expressed discontent with former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and MLA Gopal Kanda, along with his brother Gobind Kanda, who have failed to fulfil their promises of providing land to them. Despite numerous meetings, not a single inch of promised land has been allocated.

The traders voiced their grievances about the lack of basic amenities in the auto market. There are no streetlights, proper roads, drinking water facilities, security, or even parking space. The situation is compounded by the presence of two hospitals in the area, where the absence of parking frequently leads to traffic jams, inconveniencing both patients and traders alike.

Feeling misled by previous assurances and false maps presented by the politicians, the traders have made it clear that they will not participate in the upcoming elections unless tangible solutions to their problems are provided. They emphasised that without addressing the market’s challenges, they and their families will refrain from casting their vote.

The meeting was attended by traders, including Binny Mistry, Lalit Bharti, Sahil Girdhar, Sonu Kharadia, Babu Tyrewala, Rajkumar Soni, Vikas Gaba, Shakti, Ashok, Pankaj Relhan, and many others. Together, they stood united in their demand for action and warned of electoral consequences if their voices continued to be ignored.
