Four cops among 10 booked in suicide case
The police have registered a case against 10 persons, including a retired DSP, an SHO, an Assistant Sub-Inspector and a woman cop, in a case of abetment to suicide on the complaint of the victim’s family.
The victim, Raj Kumar, a retired Army personnel, was re-employed by the Haryana Government in 2018. He was posted at the DC Office, Hisar. According to the victim’s son Pankaj, Raj Kumar died after consuming sulphas on October 23. The victim had mentioned his statement in a complaint register of the DC before committing suicide, in which he alleged that some cops had been harassing him by registering a false case against him.
The victim named DSP Ashok Kumar (who retired two months ago), SHO Jagdish, ASI Phool Kumar and ASI Usha, besides six others, for harassing him. The victim had also narrated the incident of harassment in the suicide note.
The victim’s son Pankaj also levelled allegations of financial fraud with his father. He alleged that his father was under pressure as he was being wrongly framed, which drove him to commit suicide.
Sadanand Rajli, a social activist, said the family members have refused to accept the body for cremation and stated that they would not cremate the body until the accused are arrested. Rajli added that they would stage a dharna at the Mini-Secretariat from tomorrow to demand justice for the victim and his family.
The police spokesperson informed that the police have registered a case under Section 108 of the BNS and started further investigation in the matter.
