Kurukshetra, July 10
Haryana Sarasvati Heritage Development Board Deputy Chairman Dhuman Singh Kirmach today said a target had been set to tap and recharge more than 20 crore liters of water in the monsoon season.
He was addressing the people present at the Recharging Earth Conclave organised by the Haryana Sarasvati Heritage Development Board in collaboration with the National Ecology Environment Responsibility (NEER) at the Panchayat Bhawan at Kaulapur village on Wednesday.
The Deputy Chairman said, “There was a need to focus on the liquid waste management (LWM) and clean dirty water of the village through the Three and Five Pond System. The sarpanches should install the system. Though the panchayats get funds from the Panchayati Raj Department, the board is also ready to assist the panchayats if needed. The board has been developing ponds and ghats along the Sarasvati river. It should be ensured that only clean water is released in the Sarasvati river. The river has proved to be a boon for everyone, farmers as well as the common people have benefited from it.”
He said, “During the monsoon season rainwater caused damages, but the issue has been resolved to an extent as the ponds have been developed. The surplus water is tapped and It will be helpful in improving the groundwater level. It will be beneficial for the farmers of the region.”
