Flooded streets: 2 officials dismissed for negligence

Municipal Commissioner Sonal Goel on Friday suspended a Subdivisional Officer (Assistant Engineer) and dismissed a Junior Engineer and an Assistant Sanitary Inspector on charges of dereliction of duty by not resolving a problem related to sewage and waterlogging in Jawahar Colony of the NIT Assembly segment.
An MC spokesperson said action followed Goel’s visit to ward number 7 of Jawahar Colony on Friday. She found waterlogged streets and a chocked sewerage line. On enquiry, she learnt the streets were waterlogged for a week.
While pulling up officials, Goel ordered the suspension of SDO Kartar Dalal for negligence in resolving the problem of sewerage and waterlogging in ward number 7.
Besides the SDO’s suspension, the services of JE Ashish Sharma and Assistant Sanitary Inspector Sushil Kumar employed on outsourced basis were terminated.
Meanwhile, a show-cause notice was issued to Health Officer Dr Uday Bhan Sharma and Executive Engineer Sanjeev Kumar for dereliction of duty. — TNS
