Fire at Gurugram building, 12 rescued
A massive fire erupted in a four-storey building in Krishna Nagar colony on Basai Road, causing widespread panic as women, children and elderly residents were trapped inside. Responding swiftly, neighbours used ladders to rescue 12 individuals before the fire brigade arrived.
The blaze, initially suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, began around 9 am. Many residents were unaware of the fire until smoke started billowing into the sky, alerting neighbours and causing an uproar. Children, elderly persons and night-shift workers sleeping in the building were especially under threat, and some trapped residents climbed to the rooftop, calling for help.
Without waiting for the Fire Brigade, neighbours quickly set up ladders, guiding trapped residents to safety from an adjacent roof. Fire officials arrived shortly after and managed to extinguish the flames, though the fire had already destroyed most possessions in the affected homes.
A senior fire official said while a short circuit is the suspected cause, an investigation is underway. Despite the loss of valuables, all residents were safely rescued.
