The Chautala family, deeply rooted in Dabwali’s political landscape, is at the centre of this contest, with multiple family members and candidates from various factions vying for the seat.

The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) held the Dabwali seat from 2000 to 2019. However, in the 2019 elections, the constituency saw a significant shift when Aditya Chautala of the BJP lost to Congress candidate Amit Sihag.

This time, the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), a breakaway faction led by Digvijay Chautala, is looking to reclaim its influence in Dabwali. Digvijay Chautala, son of Ajay Chautala, is expected to contest the seat, continuing the family’’s political legacy. Notably, Aditya Chautala of the BJP, along with several other Chautala family members, is likely to be in the fray, making it a high-stakes election.

From the Congress side, Amit Sihag, who won the seat in 2019, is considered the strongest contender. His previous victory

has solidified his position as a key player in the upcoming elections, where he will be challenged by both the BJP and other Chautala family members.

The 2019 Dabwali Assembly election results saw Amit Sihag secure 66,885 votes, defeating Aditya Chautala, who garnered 51,238 votes. The JJP candidate, Saravjit Singh Masitan, received 23,002 votes, while the INLD

and other candidates

trailed behind. The voter turnout was high, with 1,57,136 out of the 1,99,291 registered voters casting their ballots, resulting in a turnout of 78.85%.

As the election approaches, several new names from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are emerging, adding to the competition. With Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’’s involvement in the campaign, the AAP is fielding candidates like Kuldeep Gadrana and others, hoping to make a significant impact in Dabwali.

The Dabwali Assembly election is shaping up to be a highly competitive and closely watched battle, with multiple candidates from prominent political families and parties vying for dominance.
