Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said the BJP had paid the price for the Centre’s unfair behaviour towards farmers during the Lok Sabha elections, and if the Saini government kept confronting the farmers, it would end up losing the Assembly elections.

He was here to attend a meeting organised under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) at Balana village today. The members discussed strategies for the release of youth farm leader Navdeep Singh, who was arrested by the police for his involvement in the ongoing farmers’ agitation.

The farmers have given a call to gherao the SP office in Ambala to create pressure for the release of Navdeep on July 17 and 18. Sarwan Singh Pandher said, “A meeting was organised in Ambala to chalk out a strategy for the call given for the Gherao on July 17 and 18. Farmers have assured us they would reach the office in numbers. Along with farmers from Haryana, those form Punjab will also join us in protest. We will gather at the grain market in Ambala City, then march toward the SP office.”

“The farmers will stage a protest at the SP office and if any attempts are made to stop the farmers from reaching the office, appropriate reply will be given. We urge all farmers to reach Ambala in number to stand up against the atrocities of the government,” he added.

Pandher said, “The BJP has paid the price for its unfair behaviour with farmers and labourers in the Lok Sabha elections as it managed to win only 240 seats. If the Saini government also want to keep confronting farmers, then the people of Haryana will not vote for the BJP in the Assembly elections. The government should talk to the farmers, accept our demands and resolve our problems.”

BKU (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) president Amarjeet Singh Mohri said, “We urge people from all sections of society to mark their presence on July 17 and 18. Farmers are struggling to stop corporate houses from looting the common man.”
