Farmers, under the banner of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU-Charuni) observed a one-day fast in Kaithal and Karnal district headquarters on Thursday to express their solidarity with Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been observing fast for the past 25 days at Khanauri border to press the demands of Punjab’s farmers.

Thirteen farmers observed fast from 10 am to 4 pm in Kaithal and 11 farmers observed fast in Karnal.

A memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi was submitted to Tehsildar Ravindra Hooda, highlighting key farmer demands, including the guarantee law to ensure MSP and the resolution of pending issues from the 2020 farmers' protests.

“Dallewal is in a serious condition. The Union Government should accept the demand of protesting farmers by holding talks with them. They have been requesting the government to fulfill its promises made in December 2021. The legal guarantee of MSP on all crops is a major promise, but it was not fulfilled due to which farmers feel betrayed,” said Kasana.
