Sources said about 20 cases of claims amounting to Rs 20-30 lakh as medical reimbursement on the basis of fake bills submitted by certain persons have come to the light in the civic body.
Municipal Corporation, Hisar, Commissioner Vaishali Sharma said the MCH had submitted a complaint to the police for inquiry by a special team into the matter and to take further action, including registration of the FIR into the case against the accused.
Meanwhile, the sources revealed that the three employees of the civic body have been placed under suspension and three other employees have been served the chargesheet for their alleged involvement in the case.
As per the modus operandi, the fake medical bills are submitted to the Municipal Corporation for reimbursement by showing the employee or his/her family member as a patient who had undergone treatment in the hospitals. After a case came to light, the MCH constituted a three-member committee headed by Deputy Municipal Commissioner Virender Saharan who detected three such cases in which the fake medical bills had been submitted to claim the reimbursement. A further probe found six more cases. “Now, about 20 cases have come under the scanner and thus the MCH has asked the police to conduct a thorough inquiry in cases in which the reimbursements were claimed in the last six months,” said a source.
However, a number of employees have alleged that their names had been dragged to falsely implicate in such cases. The employees alleged that they were unaware about the medical bills submitted with their signatures on these bills and thus pleaded innocence.
