Haryana Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij, alleging threat to his life during campaigning for the Assembly elections, said he had written to the Chief Secretary about it, but had received no response.

Speaking to mediapersons in the Press gallery during the ongoing session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today, Vij said that he had informed the previous Chief Secretary in writing about the “threat to life”.

Last week, Vij had claimed that while officers of the local administration had worked against him, his security had been scaled down during the elections and he faced a threat to his life.

He was responding to a question about Congress MLA Ashok Arora’s raising concerns about Vij’s safety in the House yesterday.

Reacting to that, the minister said that, "I had already informed the then Chief Secretary in writing and apprised him about the situation on the ground over the phone as well. We will see what happens."

When asked about the issue raised in the Assembly regarding the reduction of Vij's security, he said, "If I have raised an issue, it is serious. More will come out when the investigation begins. However, so far, nobody has asked me about it."

About the inclusion of more people in Haryana’s Below Poverty Line (BPL) list, Vij said that the public was made to run from pillar to post to get a BPL card. “Now, the entire system has been streamlined and eligible persons can get a BPL card,” he stated.

Reacting to the Congress raising the issue of EVMs in the Assembly, Vij said, "This is part of Congress' agenda and they have built a ‘university of lies’ where the curriculum includes blaming the Election Commission if they lose, and then blaming EVMs. In the seats Congress won, were the EVMs working fine? If EVMs were faulty, they should have been faulty throughout the state. So how can the Congress win and still claim EVMs were faulty where the BJP won? This logic makes no sense. The Congress should call for a re-poll in seats that it won.”
