Ex-servicemen block Jhajjar road against ‘non-availability’ of medicines
Several ex-servicemen today blocked Old Tehsil Road in Jhajjar for around an hour in protest against “non-availability” of medicines at the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic here.
The police rushed to the spot on getting the information about disruption of vehicular traffic and persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade. The protesters placed the chairs on the road and blocked the road by sitting on them to show their resentment. They also shouted slogans against the polyclinic's incharge.
‘Was told online system not working’
“The ex-servicemen come to the polyclinic from far-flung areas but they have to struggle for many days to get the medicines. I came here yesterday but was not given medicines stating that the online system is not working. I was asked to come today but the medicines are unavailable even today. Resentment prevails among ex-servicemen due to the non-availability of medicines in the polyclinic. — Rajendra Singh, One of the protesters

He said the ex-servicemen were being harassed on various pretexts, which was not appropriate. “We all have blocked the road to highlight the issue before the higher authorities,” he added.
Rajendra, another protester, said the beneficiaries were compelled to take multiple rounds of the polyclinic for getting the medicines without any firm reason.
ACP Anirudh Chauhan said the protesters resorted to road blockade following some issue with the clinic incharge. “As per the protesters, they are not getting medicines timely at the polyclinic,” he added.
