Ensure strict control over stubble burning, Karnal officials directed

Karnal Divisional Commissioner Rajeev Rattan on Thursday directed officials of Karnal, Panipat and Kaithal districts to take steps for preventing stubble burning. “The government is prioritising this issue and negligent officers will face strict action,” he said while addressing the authorities through videoconferencing from Mini-Secretariat, Karnal.

He also directed officials to remain vigilant over the next 10-15 days to ensure complete control over stubble burning.

Deputy Director Agriculture (DDA) Dr Wazir said 71 active fire locations (AFLs) were identified in Karnal district. “FIRs have been registered against 14 farmers and fines amounting to Rs 1.12 lakh have been imposed,” the DDA added.

Additionally, show-cause notices have been issued to 60 nodal officers and village-level teams for negligence in checking stubble burning cases.

The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed the performances on CM Window and CPGRAMS, Family ID, land record, revenue court cases, summons, paddy procurement, land registry processes in tehsils, district and sub-division monitoring committees and crop residue management.

He also directed the officials for efficient management of these matters. “Pending complaints should be dealt with promptly, and officers must not be negligent in their duties,” directed Rattan, stressing on resolving complaints on CM Window and CPGRAM portals in a timely manner.

He also directed the monitoring committees at the district and sub-division levels to regularly inspect the quality of construction materials and the progress of ongoing development projects. He emphasised the smooth procurement of paddy and the timely lifting of stocks from the markets to prevent any inconvenience to the farmers.

Rattan instructed revenue officials to complete the “jamabandi and intkal” updates without delay. He also urged them to expedite the settlement of long-pending court cases related to revenue matters.
