State Women and Child Development and Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry has directed officers to ensure that the canal water reaches the tail end of farmers' fields for good yields. She was presiding over a meeting with senior officers of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department here today.

She said the government was committed to the welfare of farmers. She directed the officers to visit each Assembly constituency of the state to identify and address the issues faced by the farmers in the supply of canal water.

She said she would soon hold a meeting with the Superintending Engineer of the department in this regard and closely monitor the progress of ongoing irrigation projects through a portal to ensure their timely completion. She would also inspect the Hathni Kund Barrage to take stock of the supply.
