Efforts to clear traffic congestion in Sirsa grain market begin
Sirsa's grain market has been facing severe traffic congestion due to the influx of paddy, causing problems for farmers and commission agents. To address this, the Commission Agents Association launched a campaign to clear the market of blockages.
On Wednesday, association president Manohar Mehta, accompanied by market committee secretary Virender Mehta and police personnel, toured the market to remove obstacles. They visited shops and ensured empty tractor-trailers were moved outside the market. Mehta urged the commission agents not to pile paddy in the middle of the road, as it disrupted traffic and hindered loading work.
Virender Mehta issued a stern warning to violators. He stated that the agents placing paddy piled up on the road would face suspension of their licenses, including weighing permits.
Manohar Mehta also appealed to the farmers to avoid bringing paddy to the market after 5 pm. He highlighted safety concerns, noting that families resided above the shops in the market. In case of fire, blocked roads could prevent fire trucks from reaching the area.
The campaign has already achieved partial success, with several obstacles removed. The association aims at making the market congestion-free while ensuring smooth operations for all stakeholders.
