EC issues directives to update voter lists in 34 civic bodies

Claims, objections to be submitted to revising authority by December 23

The Haryana State Election Commission has issued directives to update voter lists for the wards in five municipal corporations, three municipal councils, and 26 municipal committees.

An official spokesperson said the voter lists for the wards in the municipal corporations of Ambala, Faridabad, Gurugram, Manesar and Sonepat, and municipal councils of Ambala Sadar, Pataudi, Jatauli Mandi, and Sirsa would be updated.

Additionally, the voter lists for the wards in several municipal committees will also be updated. These include Barara in Ambala; Bawani Khera, Loharu, and Siwani (Bhiwani district); Jhakhal Mandi (Fatehabad); Farrukhnagar (Gurugram); Narnaund (Hisar); Beri (Jhajjar); Julana and Safidon (Jind); Kalayat, Siwan, and Pundri (Kaithal); Indri, Nilokheri, Assandh, and Taraori (Karnal); Ismailabad and Ladwa (Kurukshetra); Ateli Mandi and Nandina (Mahendragarh); Tauru (Nuh); Hathin (Palwal); Kalanaur (Rohtak); Kharkhoda (Sonepat); and Radaur (Yamunanagar).

The spokesperson further said from December 9 to December 16, the voter lists and all supplements prepared by the Election Commission of India were distributed in the wards. Claims and objections would be submitted to the revising authority by December 23 and be addressed by December 27.

The final date to appeal against the decisions of the revising authority to the Deputy Commissioner is December 31. The DC will resolve appeals by January 3, and the final publication of the updated lists will be on January 6.
