Drive to link people with social security schemes from Oct 15

Campaign to be conducted for three months at gram panchayat level

A three-month intensive campaign will be run at the gram panchayat level to link all eligible beneficiaries in the district with the social security schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the Atal Pension scheme.

Vijay Singh, lead district manager, Punjab National Bank, while sharing this information here today said on the instructions of the Central Government, all banks would work to connect the people, especially the poor, with social security schemes with the help of the district administration from October 15 to January 15, 2025.

“At present, a total 3,02,140 locals are registered under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana in Mahendragarh district and 1,36,441 are registered under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana while 30,170 are registered under the Atal Pension Yojana,” he said.

Singh said under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, a life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh was available on paying a premium of Rs 436 per year. For this, the age of the beneficiary should be between 18 and 50 years. Similarly, the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana provides an accident insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh on a premium of Rs 20 per year. For this, the age of the beneficiary should be between 18 and 70 years, he added.

Referring to another social scheme, the lead manager said under the Atal Pension Scheme, citizens were given a lifetime monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000. The age limit for joining the scheme has been fixed from 18 to 40 years. Under the scheme, one has to make a contribution according to age. Moreover, an accident insurance cover up to Rs 2 lakh through debit card is free for all Jan-Dhan account holders, he added.

“Under the nationwide campaign, eligible residents will be linked with public security schemes by organising special camps at every gram panchayat level. The government’s goal is to link all eligible citizens with these schemes. For this work, an action plan has been prepared at the district level,” Singh added.
