Former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik today advised the ruling BJP in the state to refrain from interfering in the affairs of Haryana’s Sikh community and highlighted their contribution.
Besides, Malik urged the people of Haryana to defeat the BJP in the forthcoming elections and support other parties. He was interacting with mediapersons at Saheed Baba Jang Singh Gurdwara here on the sidelines of a state-level Sikh convention organised by the Haryana Shiromani Panthak Akali Dal.
“The Sikh community has always stood by the nation whenever there has been a crisis or difficulty. The BJP government has failed to accomplish its task and should not interfere in the affairs of the Sikh community,” said Malik.

He also highlighted the deteriorating situation in Jammu and Kashmir, saying, “During my tenure, terrorists did not dare to reach Srinagar, but now they are attacking the military, and there is no effective governance in place. The BJP has failed both in Delhi and Srinagar,” said Malik on being asked about the situation in J&K.
On the statement of BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on farmers, Malik referred to her as politically immature and advised the BJP to expel her and said she was not fit to remain in the party. He praised Rahul Gandhi for being soft and down to earth.
On being asked about the action of the Enforcement Directorate on former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, he said, “I don’t have details of the matter, but the ED is being used against whomsoever they want. They should target a few BJP members as well.”
He expressed his support for the cause of the Haryana Shiromani Panthak Akali Dal. Jagdish Singh Jhinda, president, Shiromani Panthak Akali Dal, and former president of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC), said whichever government is elected, it should announce elections of the HSGMC on November 1, with the election process to be completed within the month of November. He also announced that they would approach the Governor, the Chief Minister, and the Commission constituted for the HSGMC elections till November 20 to conduct the elections, otherwise, they would take further action.
“We will gherao the office of Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner from November 21 if the elections are not conducted till November 20,” said Jhinda.
