According to the police, a youth named Rizwan was murdered at Laharwadi some eight months ago over a dispute over dumping of soil in a field. The Punhana police had registered a case against 24 persons. The accused along with their family fled the village. Three of the accused — Salim, Muttal and Mojuda were arrested. Muttal was later granted bail. Though the case is being investigated by the CIA, Punhana, Rizwan’s family had been continuously demanding the arrest of other accused.

On Thursday, both the parties were called to the Punhana police station, where DSP Kumar was also present. Other villagers too were present on the occasion. While some demanded the arrest of the remaining accused, others wanted the accused be called back to the village.
