Devotees throng Kapal Mochan Mela

He said a large number of devotees had taken a dip in the holy sarovars at the mela.

The mela, which was inaugurated by Commissioner of Ambala Division Geeta Bharti on November 11, will conclude on November 15.

About 8-10 lakh devotees visit the mela every year from Punjab, Haryana and other states of the country.

Civil Surgeon Dr Manjeet Singh said that the Health Department had made elaborate arrangements for devotees.

Mela Officer (Health) Dr Vagish Gutain said that six medical posts had been set up by the department.

He said one doctor, one pharmacist, a laboratory technician and a Class IV employee had been put on duty in every post for 24 hours from November 11 to November 16, so people coming to the mela could get treatment in case of any health-related problem.

“Medical consultation and medicines are being given free of cost to devotees,” said Dr Vagish Gutain.

He said that the Community Health Centre, Bilaspur, had been made the base hospital of Kapal Mochan Mela, in which advanced medical facilities were being provided.

An exhibition has also been set up by the Health department to create awareness about health-related schemes of the government in the mela.

On the other hand, artistes from the District Information and Public Relations Department are entertaining people with their songs and bhajans at the exhibition site at the mela.

District Public Relations Officer Kuldeep Bangar said artistes were also giving information about government schemes and achievements through songs and bhajans.
