The parents of martyr Major Aashish Dhonchak on Sunday met Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at a public meeting and highlighted their plight after their daughter-in-law, who had received all financial and other consequential benefits, abandoned them.
Seeking justice, Kamla, the mother of martyr Major Dhonchak, said her daughter-in-law left their house with their granddaughter a month after Major Aashish’s martyrdom. “The house is registered jointly in the name of Aashish and Jyoti. She has locked the first floor of the house,” Kamla said.
The martyr’s parents met the CM during the event through Minister of State Mahipal Dhanda. Major Aashish (36) was martyred in a fierce gunfight with the terrorist in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on September 13 last year. He was survived by his wife Jyoti, three-year-old daughter and parents – father Lal Chand and mother Kamla Devi.
Highlighting the grieving parents plight, the minister requested the CM that the government job should be given to one of martyr’s sisters who are serving the elderly parents. Minister Dhanda further said former CM Manohar Lal Khattar had announced the construction of a welcome gate and a park in the martyr’s memory and the promise should be fulfilled at the earliest. He also demanded a new bus stand in the name of Major Aashish Dhonchak at Sewah village.
