Dengue cases surge in Sirsa
With the rise in dengue cases, the Health Department in Sirsa has intensified its efforts to combat the spread of the disease. Health teams conducted door-to-door surveys in various lanes of Ward 19, collecting samples of suspected patients.
The Municipal Council has also stepped up, with fogging operations beginning in affected areas on Monday night following orders from the Executive Officer. The council’s staff has been actively fogging areas, especially Ward 19 and Ward 20, to control mosquito breeding.
The situation turned critical after the suspected dengue-related death of an 11-year-old girl from Ward 20 on Monday. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Mahendra Bhadu stated, “The child’s death is suspected to be caused by dengue, but confirmation is pending. Initial reports suggest bacterial infection along with fever.”
Dr Bhadu further said 187 dengue cases have been reported this season, out of which 165 patients have recovered and returned home. Currently, there are 20 active cases under observation.
District Municipal Commissioner Surender Beniwal said regular fogging operations were being conducted across the district to prevent further outbreaks. “We are actively fogging all affected and high-risk areas to ensure safety,” he said.
The residents have been advised to remain vigilant, take precautions such as using mosquito repellents and prevent collection of water to prevent mosquito breeding. The Health Department continues to monitor the situation closely.
