Demanding upkeep of sports infra in Sirsa, Selja writes to Gadkari, Mandaviya
Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has written two separate letters to the Union Ministers, raising critical issues concerning the infrastructure and sports facilities in her constituency. In her letter to Mansukh Mandaviya, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Selja highlighted the dire condition of Dalbir Singh Indoor Stadium in Sirsa.
She pointed out that despite its significance as one of Haryana’s premier indoor sports facilities, the stadium was poorly maintained, rendering it unfit for athletes and competitions. The stadium, which has hosted several national-level events, is currently in a state of neglect.
Selja urged the minister to instruct the authorities concerned to ensure proper upkeep and management of the facility, allowing athletes to train and compete in a conducive environment.
In another letter addressed to Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Selja drew attention to the lack of proper lighting and signage on the Hisar-Sirsa four-lane highway, particularly at intersections near Fatehabad and Dabwali.
Selja noted that the absence of lights and indicators posed significant risk to travellers, especially at night. Selja also raised concerns over the construction of a culvert on a nullah between Hisar and Dabwali, which has been rendered ineffective despite an expenditure of Rs 61 crore. She demanded an investigation into the matter and immediate measures to resolve waterlogging issues in the area.
She emphasised that addressing these issues was vital for ensuring safety and development in Sirsa. Her appeals underscore the urgent need for government intervention to enhance the region’s infrastructure and sports ecosystem.
