Raising the issue of spiralling crime in Haryana, the Congress MP from Rohtak, Deepender Hooda, alleged that the incidents of ransom from jails or from abroad by the gangsters had become a routine affair in Haryana during the BJP rule.

Addressing a rally in Safidon Assembly constituency in Jind district, he alleged that it seemed that there had been a flood of new gangs and even the underage youths were getting active as shooters in these gangs.

“Under the BJP rule, the state has become a refuge for criminals. Unfortunately, the youth of Haryana are so frustrated that they seem to be landing in the trap of drug smugglers and crime due to frustration. Unemployment is the fountainhead of crime and drug addiction,” he said. The Congress leader alleged that due to the poor law and order situation, many companies had taken a flight from Haryana to other safer places which was a loss to the exchequer and also to the image of Haryana.

Serving a warning to the criminals, Deepender said the criminals and drug dealers must beware of the fact that on coming to power, they would have just one week to leave the illegal business of crime and drugs or leave the state. “Like the previous stint of the Hooda government when the criminal elements were eliminated from the state in 2005, a similar campaign will be launched in the state on coming to power to ensure that law and order is restored in the state,” he said.

He addressed a number of public meetings in Jind district, including old grain market in Safidon town, Dalmawala village in Jind segment, Ramrai village, in the Julana Assembly segment etc. he claimed that there was a wave in favour of the Congress in the entire state. He said the BJP government did nothing in 10 years. He said lack of health services in Jind district, drainage problem, dilapidated roads, poor law and order were increasing the problems of the people. This had enraged the people of the district so much that they were eager to uproot the BJP regime.

Deepender said the BJP had promised to build a nursing college in Safidon town in 2019, a girls college in Pillukhera village which had not been built so far. In Julana, the demand for a women’s college had not been fulfilled for a long time. He announced that when the Congress government came to power, all problems of the people would be resolved in a timely manner.
