Jhajjar, August 25

Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda today announced that a shooting range of international standards will be opened at Olympic bronze medallist Manu Bhaker’s native Goriya village here if the Congress comes to power in the state. He was speaking at a felicitation ceremony of Bhaker at Goriya village of the district. It was Manu’s first visit to the village after winning two bronze medals in the Paris Olympics.

“Manu Bhaker has achieved a unique feat by winning two medals in the same edition of Olympic history on the basis of her extraordinary sporting talent and has made the entire country and state proud. If medals are to be won in the Olympics, then the Hooda government’s ‘Padak Lao, Pad Pao’ policy will have to be implemented across the country,” said the MP.

Deepender claimed that medals can come only when the players are given respect, proper encouragement, infrastructure; security of their future and talent discovery policy is implemented. He announced that when the Congress government comes to power in Haryana, the ‘Padak Lao, Pad Pao’ policy will be implemented again and sportspersons will be given full encouragement. MLA Geeta Bhukkal was also present with him.

He said the BJP government had neglected the interests of the players. “During the Congress government, the 3 per cent sports quota available in Group C, D posts was abolished.” he said.
