DC oversees distribution of poll material

Polling teams in Sirsa district were dispatched to their respective booths today ahead of the Assembly elections tomorrow. District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma oversaw the distribution of election material at Chaudhary Devi Lal University. Polling teams were assigned their booths across Sirsa, Kalanwali, Ellenabad and Rania constituencies under the guidance of election observers and returning officers.

Special attention was given to the Kalanwali constituency, where Election Observer G Christ Kishore Kumar and Returning Officer Suresh Ravish briefed the polling teams before dispatching them. Similarly, polling teams for the Dabwali constituency were sent from the BR Ambedkar College under the supervision of Returning Officer Arpit Sangal, with police presence ensured by Superintendent Dipti Garg. Polling teams for the remaining constituencies, including Rania, Sirsa and Ellenabad were also dispatched under the guidance of their respective returning officers.

District Election Officer Shantanu Sharma informed that 10,08,906 voters in Sirsa district would cast their vote on October 5. This includes 5,32,544 male voters, 4,76,335 female voters and 27 transgender voters. Kalanwali has 1,84,203 voters, Dabwali has 2,07,722, Rania has 1,89,408, Sirsa has 2,32,026, and Ellenabad has 1,95,547 voters. A total of 996 polling booths have been set up across these constituencies.

Voting will begin at 7 am and continue till 6 pm. Before the voting process, a mock poll will be conducted at 5.30 am in the presence of party agents to ensure accuracy.

To make the election more inclusive, special polling booths have been established in each constituency. These include Pink Booths run by female staff, Model Booths and PWD Booths for differently abled voters.

Shantanu Sharma said voters could use any one of the 12 valid photo IDs, including Aadhaar, driving licence and passport, to cast their vote.

He said there was a ban on exit polls in the district until after voting closes on October 5.
