DC orders putting up CCTVs at bus stand’s entry, exit points in Jhajjar

Jhajjar, July 30

Deputy Commissioner Shakti Singh has directed the General Manager of the Jhajjar depot of Haryana Roadways to install CCTVs at the entry and exit points of the local bus stand to keep tabs on the movement of visitors from the security point of view.

The directions were issued at a meeting of the Road Safety Committee held here yesterday to review the steps taken and arrangements made for checking road mishaps. He also asked the General Manager (GM) to ensure regular health check-up of roadways drivers.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials concerned to block illegal diversion on state highways in the district with immediate effect as these were turning out to be a cause for accidents.

Taking a serious note of the poor condition of the Jhajjar-Bahadurgarh road, Shakti Singh asked the officials of the Public Works Department to repair not only the road, but also other highways in the district. He directed to install signboards in accident-prone areas. He expressed satisfaction on road safety-related programmes under which people were being made aware of the Motor Vehicles Act and its compliance.

“Concrete steps are being taken at the administrative level to curb road accidents in the district. Officials have been asked to work in coordination to make the public aware of road safety,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan, who too was at the meeting, said the traffic police had been instructed to adopt a zero tolerance policy towards violations. “If any driver violates traffic regulations, a challan must be issued immediately. Our effort should be that no person loses life in a road accident. This is very painful. There should be special focus on accident-prone areas,” he instructed his juniors.
