Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ajay Kumar, who has recently been shifted to Gurugram from Rohtak, today shared his work experience in Rohtak district for the past over 1.5 years.

“It was a great experience working in Rohtak. I also got the opportunity to perform the task of conducting the Lok Sabha and then Assembly elections. Besides, I worked for speedy execution of the development projects and organised sports and other activities in the district to connect people with them,” said Ajay while interacting with mediapersons organised by the Haryana Union of Working Journalists.

An IAS officer of 2013 batch, Ajay Kumar has earlier served as the DC in Bhiwani, Mahendragarh and Nuh, before Rohtak. It is his fifth posting as DC, in Gurugram. Before being appointed as the Rohtak DC, he had also worked as the ADC in Rohtak.

“Civil service is a platform to resolve public grievances, serve society and carry out development, so I selected it despite getting an attractive job in the private sector,” said Ajay while sharing his story. On being asked about “success-mantra” to crack the UPSC exam, Ajay, who hails from Himachal Pradesh, said hard work with devotion, exposure and confidence were key not only to attain success but personal aspirations too.
