After weeks of intense campaigning, sleepless nights and a race to win voters’ hearts, candidates across Karnal district are now holding their breath and keeping their fingers crossed as they await the results. With polling completed, it was a day of relaxation, family time and intense trend assessment, as they assessed their chances of victory with party workers.

The candidates of the BJP and the Congress are confident of their victory. The BJP candidates have rejected the exit polls.

In the Karnal Assembly segment, BJP candidate Jagmohan Anand was seen in a relaxed mood at his residence, surrounded by family and close aides. “After a long campaign period, I finally had a sound sleep last night,” Anand said with a smile. “We reject the exit polls and are confident that the voters have appreciated our work. The trends from polling booths indicate a positive outcome for us. The BJP will form the government for the third consecutive time.”

His Congress rival from Karnal, Sumita Singh Virk, had a sound sleep and was equally confident. She spent the day with her party workers and claimed, “We have received overwhelming support from the people and we are confident of our victory as people want to change the government. The mood on the ground during the polling and the trends we are analysing make us confident that the Congress is heading for a big win in Karnal.”

In the Assandh Assembly segment, Congress candidate Shamsher Singh Gogi held a meeting with party workers at the Assandh election office and expressed similar optimism as he reviewed trends with party workers and leaders. “Voters have shown trust in us and the exit polls only confirm what we have been sensing throughout the campaign. We are going to win not only the Assandh seat, but also the five seats of Karnal. We will win with a full majority in the state,” Gogi said.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Yoginder Rana from Assandh was busy calculating booth-wise trends and he dismissed the exit polls. “These exit polls are often inaccurate. Our government’s work speaks for itself and we believe the voters have acknowledged that. We expect to win with a clear majority,” Rana confidently said. Independent candidate Zile Ram also spent the day reviewing trends with his supporters.

The situation was much the same in the Nilokheri segment, where Congress candidate Dharampal Gonder spent his day with party workers at his residence in Karnal. Gonder confidently said, “We have campaigned tirelessly and the voters have responded well. We are confident that the Congress will win.”

BJP candidate Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi was busy reviewing booth-wise data at his residence and office in Taraori. Kabirpanthi dismissed the exit polls and said, “Our voters are loyal and we will win the seat,” said Kairpanthi.

In Gharaunda, BJP candidate Harvinder Kalyan spent the day with his workers, enjoying some light moments after weeks of hectic campaigning. “We are confident that we have won. The people of Gharaunda have given their mandate and it will be announced on Tuesday,” Kalyan said, as his team shared jokes and songs to lighten the mood.

Congress candidate from Gharaunda Virender Rathore also optimistic about his chances, took stock of the situation with his supporters. “The trends we are seeing align with the exit polls and we are certain of a Congress win in Gharaunda,” Rathore said.

In the Indri Assembly segment, Congress candidate Rakesh Kamboj and BJP candidate Ram Kumar Kashyap both spent the day relaxing with their teams while discussing the trends emerging from the polls.
