Day 2: Youth fest dazzles with dance, leaves audience in awe

Haryanvi group dance, one-act plays, mimicry, classical dance, Haryanvi group song, solo dances and Indian orchestra marked the second day of the 47th Zonal Youth Festival at SD (PG) College here.

Atul Mittal, a social activist and industrialist, and Satish Chandra, Chairman SD Vidya Mandir, were the special guests on the occasion. The chief guests encouraged the students to keep participating in such competitions.

Mittal said during the youth festival, national unity and communal harmony were developed among the students. “The aim of the youth festival is to promote art and culture. Apart from studies, students also develop abilities in cultural and various arts and literature,” he added.

The special guest of the evening session was Prof Sanjeev Aggarwal, Dean Research and Development of Kurukshetra University, while Dr Ashok Chaudhary, Principal of MN College, Shahabad, and Dr Abid Ali Ansari of Kurukshetra University were observers at the festival.

Dr Anupam Arora, SD College Principal, said as many as 2,000 artists were showcasing their talent in 42 disciplines, for which five stages had been set up in the college. Rasiya Haryanvi group dance, group dance (general), Haryanvi and Hindi drama, one-act play and mimicry were performed on Stage-I; group song (Haryanvi), solo dance Haryanvi (men and women), Indian orchestra, classical instrumental solo (percussion), classical instrumental solo (non-percussion), folk instrumental Haryanvi (solo) were performed on Stage-II, Sanskrit speech and debate on Stage-IV, while clay modelling, cartooning, collage and rangoli competitions were organised on Stage-V.

Dr Arora said participation in the youth festival increases the teamwork and cooperation among the youth. The youth develops self-confidence and get an opportunity to express and fulfil their aspirations.
