Cyber criminals target Nuh DC, create fake FB account
Nuh, the cybercrime capital of the North, now has its own Deputy Commissioner added to the list of victims. Cyber criminals have targeted DC Dhirendra Khadgata by creating his fake Facebook profile to extort money from people.
The fake profile has his picture and seems to be an exact replica of the original account. The account operators have reached out seeking money from people and also putting up furniture for sale. Khadgata took to his social media account to warn people and also filed a police complaint.
“I am not sure how many have been duped as no victim has reached out to me yet. However, I got to know they were trying to get money in my name and posting furniture sale ads in my name. I have already filed a complaint with the police,” he said.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. A senior police official revealed that the URL had been traced to down south and they were trying to trace the accused. The authorities are in the process of removing the fake account.
Nuh is a part of the cybercrime triangle and is known to be the hub of cyber criminals along with Mathura and Alwar.
