Cop’s wife arrested for killing mother-in-law in Jagadhri
The police have cracked the case of murder of a policeman's mother and robbery at their house at Sector 18 in Jagadhri on November 11.
They have arrested Inspector Nirmal Singh’s wife Shilpi for allegedly killing her mother-in-law Raj Bala (62) by way of strangulation.
According to the police, Shilpi killed her mother-in-law due to a domestic dispute.
A total of Rs 75 lakh in cash and some jewellery was also found missing from the house.
Inspector Nirmal is posted in Panchkula district.
In his complaint to the police, Raj Bala's husband Balinder Singh of Sector-18 had told the police that he practised as an advocate and gone to court on Monday.
He had stated that his daughter-in-law Shilpi, who runs a boutique in Sector-17, Jagadhri, had also gone out for some work.
He stated in his complaint that his wife was alone at home and when he and his daughter-in law returned around 2 pm, the front doors of their house were closed.
He said that they entered the house from the back door and when his daughter-in-law went on the first floor of the house, she found her mother-in-law lying dead on the floor in front of the store room.
He said that they had sold a plot for Rs 75 lakh in Kurukshetra and the said amount, along with jewellery worth Rs 16.73 lakh, was missing from their house.
On the complaint of Balinder Singh, a case was registered against unknown persons under Sections 103 (1) (punishment for murder), 332 (a) (house trespass) and 309 (6) (robbery) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on November 11.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said that the CIA-II wing of Yamunanagar district police had arrested Shilpi in the case, adding, “On the day the murder took place, there was a quarrel between Shilpi and her-mother-law on some issue. After the quarrel, Shilpi strangled her mother-in-law to death,” said DSP Rajesh Kumar.
He said that the accused Shilpi was produced in a court at Jagadhri which sent her to three-day police custody.
