Construction work set to begin on 20-km stretch of Yamunanagar-Karnal road
In a major relief to commuters, the construction work on the Yamunanagar-Jathlana-Karnal stretch, which is in a deplorable condition, will be started on November 5. The project will be inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana.
About 20-km stretch of this busy road is situated in Yamunanagar district and most of it falls in Radaur Assembly constituency, which is represented by Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana.
“We will construct about 20-km stretch of the Yamunanagar-Jathlana-Karnal road from Shadipur village to Gumthala Rao village. The inauguration of the work will be done by Minister Shyam Singh Rana on November 5,” said Naveen Khatri, Executive Engineer of PWD (B&R), Yamunanagar district.
He said that the state government had floated the tender and the process of allotment of work had been completed. “This stretch of the road will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 21 crore,” said XEN Naveen Khatri.
According to information, this road, popularly known as Shadipur-Khajuri stretch, has been in poor condition for a long time.
Vipin Kumar of Jathlana village said that this road had been broken for a long time, causing huge inconvenience to commuters. “Big potholes have developed on this road. It is difficult to commute on this road. Every day, people are becoming victims of accidents, therefore the construction work should be started as early as possible,” said Vipin Kumar.
XEN Khatri said ‘Pavement Quality Concrete’ (PQC) would be used to construct the road as it was connected with the mining zone of Jathlana area and heavy vehicles plied on it everyday. “The construction work will be completed in one year,” said XEN Naveen Khatri.
