Construction of open air theatre to begin with bhoomi pujan in Jagadhri
The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), is set to begin construction of an open-air theatre and auditorium at Sector 17, Jagadhri, with a bhoomi pujan ceremony on Monday. The bhoomi pujan ceremony would be led by Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana.
Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora, former Cabinet Minister, Kanwar Pal Gujjar, former Mayor Madan Chauhan, BJP district president Rajesh Sapra and other senior officials would remain present at the ceremony.
According to information, the project follows the foundation stone laying by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini through video conferencing from Panchkula a few months ago.
The open-air theatre and auditorium, spanning 5.45 acres, would be constructed under the Divya Nagar Yojana and completed within 18 months. Designed by an architect from Kurukshetra, the venue would feature a stage for 500 people and a 1,000-seat auditorium. Amenities at the theatre include artiste rooms, VIP and conference rooms, parking for 300 cars, CCTV surveillance, greenery, and air-conditioned facilities for indoor events.
The facility would address the lack of venues for social, cultural, religious and political events in the district, which currently are held in educational institutions, dharamshalas, private venues and stadiums. — TNS
