Congress MLA Chiranjeev Rao was accorded a warm welcome at Kapriwas village here when he returned from Delhi after being nominated as the Congress candidate from Rewari for the Assembly poll.

It will be Chiranjeev’s second election. His father Capt Ajay Singh Yadav, a former minister and national president of the OBC Department of the Congress, had been an MLA from Rewari six times.

Addressing his supporters, Chiranjeev expressed gratitude to the Congress leadership for reposing faith in him. “I will live up to the expectations of the party by retaining the seat in the Assembly elections,” said he, claiming that the Congress will win more than 70 seats in the state.

Chiranjeev launched a scathing attack on the BJP MLA from Kosli, Laxman Singh Yadav, who has been made by the BJP its nominee from Rewari this time. He said local BJP leaders were raising questions over his candidature from Rewari and also carrying out protest demonstrations against him, which was sufficient enough to understand what is the position of the BJP in Rewari.

“Unemployment, inflation, corruption and deteriorating law and order are the major issues in the state and the Congress is seeking reply from the BJP government in this regard but it has not yet responded. The Congress will contest the election on these issues being connected with common men and will oust the BJP from power,” said the MLA.

Chiranjeev said he would file his nomination papers on September 9 in presence of former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
