Ex-Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said if voted to power, the Congress government would put an end to illegal mining as the practice had ruined the natural resources of Yamunanagar and state’s other districts.

The former CM said this during an election rally organised by Raman Prakash Tyagi, Congress candidate for the Yamunanagar Assembly constituency.

He said the Congress would only allow legal mining, so that there was no loss of natural resources and people got employment.

“The practice of illegal mining is highly rampant in Yamunanagar district, but our government will not allow this to happen,” said Hooda.

In his presence, a number of social organisations and political leaders extended their support to the party’s Yamunanagar candidate.

He also said during the Congress’ tenure, paddy procurement used to commence on September 15. However, the BJP government kept delaying the dates, he said.

“Paddy started arriving in the grain markets from September 15, and the government said the procurement would start from the same day. However, it was delayed and then the procurement began on September 27,” said Hooda.
