Congress dividing, misleading people, alleges Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat
Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has accused the Congress leadership of dividing the people on the basis of their religion, language, dialect, class and caste.
“The Congress divided the people on the basis of their religion when the country got Independence, then on the basis of their language and dialect, class, and now it is trying to divide them on the basis of their caste by way of a caste census,” Shekhawat said while addressing a news conference in Rohtak on Sunday.
The Union Minister remarked that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was coming to Haryana on a political tour, while Priyanka Gandhi was coming to give ‘darshan’ to the state Congressmen who had not seen her for long.
“For a few days, the father-son duo (former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his son and Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda) were campaigning. Now, with a few days left for campaigning, Rahul Gandhi is coming to walk. Priyanka is also coming to give ‘darshan’ to Congressmen. They seem to be coming on a political tour,” quipped Shekhawat.
He stated that when the Congress was in power, it indulged in corruption, and tried to mislead people and create controversies when it was not in power.
“There was discrimination in the selection for government jobs under the Congress rule. When the BJP came to power, the Congress set up a ‘bharti-roko gang’ to hinder the recruitment process,” alleged the BJP leader.
Shekhawat said land scams also used to take place in the state during the tenures of the Congress government.
“Scams and terror attacks were frequent in the country before 2014. Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned things around. As of now, we are the fastest growing economy. Article 370 was removed and Ram Temple built,” he asserted.
Replying to a query regarding the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Union minister stated that most of its leaders were out on bail.
