Congress, BJP nominees confident of win
With the counting of votes for Assembly poll slated for October 8, candidates of both national parties- the BJP and the Congress- in Rohtak and Jhajjar districts are confident of a win.
The Congress chief whip and the party candidate from Rohtak, Bharat Bhushan Batra, cast his vote along with his family members at Sainik Rest House near Chhotu Ram Chowk in Rohtak city.
“Every section of the society is fed up with the misrule of the BJP which has utterly failed to provide employment, curb inflation, maintain law and order, redress public grievances and bring any major development project in Rohtak city,” said Batra, while talking to the media later.
A two-time MLA, Batra said the BJP government failed to provide a good drainage system in Rohtak city as roads turned into ponds. “We have promised the people that we will lay new drainage and sewage systems. Several other development projects will be brought to make Rohtak beautiful,” Batra added.
In Jhajjar, BJP national secretary Om Prakash Dhankar along with his family members, cast his vote at his native place Dhakla village under the Badli Assembly constituency from where he is trying his luck in the Assembly poll.
“Badli had witnessed remarkable progress from 2019 to 2024 when I represented this constituency in the Vidhan Sabha and became a cabinet minister. The process of development got stalled in the past five years but people now want to see the same development. I have contested the election on the issue of development,” said Dhankar.
On being asked about the BJP’s chance of forming the government in the state for the third time, the former Agriculture Minister said the BJP had carried out its election campaign very well. “Moreover, there is a trend that Haryana goes with the party which has its government in the Centre,” he added.
Meanwhile, four-time MLA and former Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal along with her husband, sons and daughter exercised the franchise at Government Girls School in Jhajjar city.
“There is no doubt that the Congress is coming back to power in the state as the BJP did nothing except spreading corruption and lies, and misleading the people by making false promises. It did not pay any heed to resolving public grievances, ensuring good governance and bringing new development projects,” said Bhukkal, the Congress candidate from Jhajjar. She claimed that the BJP showed discrimination against Jhajjar in terms of development, hence the people were eagerly waiting to oust the BJP from power. Batra casts vote in Rohtak, Dhankar Badli and Bhukkal in Jhajjar.
