Cong slams BJP govt for 'anti-farmer actions, broken promises'
In Sirsa’s Dabwali, former Congress MLA Amit Sihag criticised the BJP government for using tear gas and water cannons on farmers who were peacefully marching towards Delhi.
He condemned these actions as "undemocratic and harmful to the atmosphere of peace".
Sihag accused the BJP of resorting to "low tactics" to suppress farmers. He said, “The BJP leaders claim to be farmer-friendly, but when farmers protest for their rights, they face tear gas and water cannons. This exposes the government’s insensitivity towards farmers.”
He further alleged that the BJP was misleading farmers with false promises. “The government claims to provide MSP on most crops, but if that was true, why are farmers forced to protest? This shows the government’s lack of commitment to addressing their concerns,” Sihag remarked.
Meanwhile, in Sirsa’s Rania, Congress leader Sarvmitra Kamboj accused the BJP government of betraying local people. He pointed out that during elections, the Chief Minister promised to make Rania a sub-division, but had failed to fulfill this commitment even after forming the government for the third time.
Kamboj reminded people that members of the Bar Association had been protesting for a long time to elevate Rania tehsil to the sub-division status. “Before the Assembly elections, the CM assured us in the presence of BJP leaders in Chandigarh that Rania would be given the sub-division status. But despite repeated promises, nothing has been done,” he said.
Kamboj also slammed the BJP government for its claims of fighting corruption and drug trafficking. “While the BJP talks about eradicating corruption and drugs, the ground reality shows that both are at an all-time high in Haryana,” he added.
The Congress leaders said that the BJP’s "anti-farmer actions and failure to fulfill promises will not be forgotten, and the public will hold them accountable".
