Congress failed to assess situation, says Vij
With Nayab Singh Saini and Anil Vij taking oaths as Chief Minister and Cabinet Minister, respectively, celebrations erupted in both Ambala and Kurukshetra districts on Thursday.
The BJP managed to win only two seats, Ambala Cantonment by Vij and Ladwa by CM Saini, in Ambala and Kurukshetra districts in the Assembly poll.
Expresses displeasure
- Cabinet Minister Anil Vij expressed displeasure over absence of senior officials at the Circuit House, where he had reached after taking oath
- Though Ambala ADC Aparajita and SDM Satinder Siwach were at the spot to welcome Vij, no other senior officials were present
- Vij said “This is not right. Officials should have been here. A message was conveyed to the administration in time but still no senior official turned up.”
The party workers said development works in the districts would now take centre stage.
However, both the leaders didn’t had a smooth beginning when Saini became the Chief Minister in the previous term. Vij, who had expressed his displeasure in the change of guard in Haryana, was not included in the cabinet.
Vij’s frequent run-offs with former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khatar also made headlines in the last 10 years. During campaigning, Vij had even staked claim on the CM’s post on the basis of his seniority. However, both Vij and Saini on several occasions kept stating that they would follow high command’s directions.
After taking oath, seven-time MLA Vij said, “It is a historic day in the politics of Haryana. The BJP has formed government for the third time in the state. The Opposition kept making noise in the name of anti-incumbency but there was nothing as such on the ground. The Congress leaders failed to assess the situation and they should close their shops. Our government has given jobs on merit, curbed corruption and tackled land mafia with an iron hand.”
“We are here to work for the people. The officials should ensure that the ongoing projects are completed within stipulated timeframe,” he added.
Meanwhile, from becoming an MLA from Naraingarh in Ambala to Kurukshetra MP and then CM of Haryana, Saini has as shown a steady growth. BJP Ambala district chief Mandeep Rana said, “Ambala has witnessed overall development in the last 10 years. Now, growth will get a boost as both CM Nayab Saini and Cabinet Minister Anil Vij are from Ambala. We are going to hold celebrations on Friday.”
