Cong, BJP reach out to traders in Sonepat
The campaigning for the Assembly elections ended on Thursday evening with a show of strength by both BJP and Congress candidates in Sonepat.
Congress’ Surender Panwar and BJP’s Nikhil Madaan, their family members and supporters organised roadshows, door-to-door campaigns and public meetings to seek votes.
Madaan on Thursday held a door-to-door campaign at a market and in nearby residential areas. He appealed to the traders and businessmen to vote for the BJP on October 5.
Madaan claimed that people were giving full support to him in the city and the BJP would form the government in the state for the third time.
He assured the people that he would leave no stone unturned to bring big development projects in the Assembly. He was elected Mayor three and a half years ago and he served the Sonepat people without any discrimination and worked for them on priority. He wanted to increase the level of the people’s service, Madaan added.
Similarly, Congress candidate Surender Panwar on Thursday held public meetings at the railway station, vegetable market, Arya Naga, Dev Nagar, 4-Marla, 8-Marla, Kalawati Vihar, Rajiv Nagar, Jeewan Vihar extension and many other places on the last day of campaigning.
After the public meetings, Panwar along with his daughter-in-law Samiksha Panwar and other leaders held a door-to-door campaign in the Kachey Quarter and other markets in the city to woo voters.
Panwar said the businessmen were not feeling safe under the BJP government. Traders and shopkeepers received threats for extortion of crores of rupees and firing incidents had scared them, he said.
Panwar assured the shopkeepers and businessmen that a secure and safe atmosphere would be provided to them after the formation of the Congress government.
