New Delhi, August 27

Amid speculation over a change in the schedule for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, the full Election Commission of India (ECI) reportedly met on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of the shifting of the poll date. It has been learnt that the commission reserved its order.

Meanwhile, ECI sources said that as of now, there was no change in the poll schedule. They declined to comment whether the ECI meeting took place.

The ruling BJP, through a letter, has urged the ECI to postpone the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections scheduled for October 1. It has cited weekend and a clash with public holidays and religious festivals as the main reasons for its request.
