The Chief Minister’s Flying Squad raided the Rania Municipal Office in Sirsa district on Friday morning. Acting on information, the team, led by Rajesh Kumar, carried out a surprise inspection, causing panic among the staff.

The focus of the raid was attendance and payments to sanitation workers. Records in the accounts department were meticulously scrutinised and enquiries were made about recent development projects in the area. The inspection was initiated after complaints surfaced regarding city’s sanitation and pending civic works.

The team examined documents related to ongoing and completed projects and questioned municipal staff about the delays. “We have received several complaints about inefficiency and irregularities in the functioning of the municipal office,” said a member of the inspection team.

Adding to the challenges, the post of Municipal Secretary in Rania remains vacant. The additional charge has been given to Girdhari Lal, Secretary of the Kalanwali municipality, who was not present during the inspection. Several key positions in the municipal office are also vacant, leading to a significant slowdown in development works. Residents are hopeful that the findings will lead to improved accountability and resolution of civic issues in the area.
